Australian College of Theology

PTC an an affiliated college of the Australian College of Theology (ACT) and approved to teach its awards. The Australian College of Theology Limited is a higher education provider as defined by the Higher Education Support Act (2003). Like universities, it has government approval to accredit its own courses in the ASCED field of Religious Studies (091703).

The ACT is a national provider and operates through independent colleges as a consortium. These colleges are approved by the Board of Directors to deliver ACT courses on its behalf, and are termed affiliated colleges of the ACT. The ACT was established under the auspices of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Australia in 1891. It is now a consortium of over 3,000 students enrolled in 17 affiliated colleges. Its degrees and awards range from one-year diploma courses to doctoral research degrees.

CRICOS approvals to deliver ACT courses to overseas students are held by the ACT Ltd.

Theological Education Committee

The operation of the College is vested by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in the Theological Education Committee. This committee meets regularly at the College.

The TEC also has responsibility for recommending to Presbyteries whether to accept prospective candidates for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church.

As well as the Principal and another faculty member as ex-officio member, there are up to ten members appointed by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria.

Dennis is an auditor and accountant, and an elder of the Melton Presbyterian Church since 1998. He has served on the PCV Board of Investment and Finance and is currently the convener of the Maintenance of the Ministry Committee. He has three children with Glenys, his wife of 44 years and has three grandchildren.

REV GRAHAM NICHOLSON

Graham is the minister at Hawthorn Presbyterian Church, where he has been for the past 14 years after being called to Victoria from Queensland. Before training for the ministry in Queensland in 1982, Graham was an engineer in the oil industry in South East Asia. He is married to Janet, and they have four adult children.

REV STEPHEN JONES

In 2009, Stephen undertook a ministry apprenticeship in Wollongong before deciding to enter the PTC as a candidate in 2011. He is now the minister at Melton Presbyterian Church, and also serves as a chaplain for his local CFA and RSL. Stephen is married to Martina, and they have four young children. 

MRS JEANETTE MCHARDY

Jeanette is a member at the Essendon Presbyterian Church.

REV JORDAN BORN

Jordan is a minister at Donvale Presbyterian Church. A Canadian, he studied at the Reformed Theological Seminary in America before moving to Australia. He completed ordination studies at PTC.

Safe Church

The Presbyterian Church of Victoria established the Safe Church Unit to ensure that all of its congregations and organisations operate in a way that minimises the risk of abuse and bullying and in conformity with Government legislation. PTC complies with the PCV Safe Church Policy especially as expressed in the PTC Code of Conduct.

The Safe Church facilitator is regularly invited to host training days at PTC, particularly for students about to enter into full-time ministry.
