About our Ministry Conference

In March/April every year a ministry conference is held at the College. Outstanding guest speakers, often from overseas, are invited, supplemented by staff members and other local speakers. This conference, attended by ministers, elders, home missionaries and students, is a time of learning and fellowship.

"Revitalised Preaching" with Rev David Cook, Rev David Jones and Rev Dr Peter Barnes

Rev David Cook served as the Principal of the Sydney Missionary and Bible College for 26 years until his retirement in 2011. Today, David serves at the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Sydney and spends 6 months each year in itinerant ministry. David is also the Moderator-General of the Presbyterian Church of Australia and has authored Bible commentaries, books on the Minor Prophets and Acts, Bible study books, a book on preaching, and another on discipleship.

Rev David Jones is Minister of the Ann St. Presbyterian Church of Brisbane. David came to Tasmania from London in 1993 and was appointed by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Tasmania as Chaplain to the University in 1993.

Rev Dr Peter Barnes is a Presbyterian minister who has served in Vanuatu, Nambucca River, and now Revesby in New South Wales, Australia. He also lectures in Church History at Christ College in Sydney and is the author of Bible Commentaries and works on Church history.



Rev Iain Murray has agreed to be the main presenter at PTC's 2014 Ministry Conference. He is a world-renowned writer and author, and a central figure in the revival of Reformational thought and practice in the modern age in Britain and further abroad. The conference is planned for March 18-20.


The 2013 Ministry Conference had four guest speakers:Dr's Bruce Winter (QTC), Andrew Reid (Holy Trinity Anglican Church), Noel Weeks (Historian) and Peter Moore (PTC Sydney).


The Rt Rev David Jones was the main speaker at the 2012 conference (20-22 March). David is the Moderator General of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, the minister at Mt Stuart Presbyterian Church, Hobart, and a noted preacher. He has served in churches in Wales and London, and with his wife has three grown up children. The conference attracted a capacity audience, with a significant number of requests for CDs of the conference.


The 2011 conference was held on March 8 - 10. The main speaker was Rev Andrew Stewart, minister ofGeelong Reformed Presbyterian Church.
